Model Ship Rigging Line
This item consists of fourteen (14) bobbins and one (1) spool of thread that can be used as rigging on model ships; it also has other uses. The types are listed as such:
1. Ten (10) bobbins of "antique" White (Grey) thread. 39 yards. 20 size.
2. Two (2) bobbins of Grey (Silver) thread. 70 yards. 40 size.
The colors noted above in the parentheses are the "official" American Thread Company color.
3. Two (2) rounds of "sand" White cord. It's flat (think unfilled fire hose) and measures 1/32" X 3/32". It's about 50 yards. 6 size.
4. One (1) spool of White thread - heavy - soft - unbleached - 16oz. It contains about a mile of thread. It's really an Off-White color. It weighs over a pound.
They are all cotton. The size given (and I don't know their meaning) is from the shoe industry as is this thread. The bobbins measure 3/4" in diameter. The cords measure 1 1/2" in diameter and there are natural variations in their color.
There are other uses for this thread such as (telephone or electric) wire on a diorama or model railroad, fire hose on a fire truck model and wing rigging for WWI airplanes. You could sew shoes too!
Check the pictures. (No, the penny and the quarter are not included, they're there just for size comparison!)
